In a recent study of 500 families, it was found that the parents of children with ADHD were more likely to divorce before that child turned eight. After this age, however, the divorce rates are approximately the same for both types of families.
This is not to say, however, that a child’s ADHD is the only factor that breaks up a marriage. Generally it is a combination of factors just like in any other divorce. However, the stress of dealing with the child’s ADHD can spark arguments and fights that might not otherwise occur.
Some marriages simply will not work. In those cases it is a good idea to get a divorce. If you or someone you know is considering divorce, contact the Boca Raton divorce lawyers of Eric N. Klein & Associates at 561.353.2600.
